Our History
Family Base Protection K9 started with a passion for Belgain Malinois sparked by our friends at Ultimate K9 Bodyguard. With their impressive track record for producing high caliber protection dogs, Ultimate K9 Bodyguard works with FamilyBase to train and prepare our Malinois. We now have four Belgain Malinois that live on our 10 acre property with us. As a family of four with two young children, these dogs are the ultimate protectors and the ultimate companions. We have two fully trained male protection Malinois and two female Malinois.

As our passion for these dogs grew, we have decided to breed our protection males with our impressive female, Fancy. Enzo (m) and Hachi (m) are both fully trained protection dogs with impressive drive, protection instinct and temperament. Though Fancy (f) lives with three other Malinois, two of which are alpha males, she rules the pack. Fancy is the largest of the four and though she is not formally trained, Fancy presents all the qualities of the most impressive Malinois.
Get to Know Us
Stan and Tammy Thankachen instill essential skills and principles through their comprehensive dog training classes. Their courses cover various aspects of obedience, agility, and personal protection, starting from basic commands and agility in Phase 1, to advanced off-leash obedience and specialized protection work in Phase 2. They emphasize building drives in prey and defense, bite development, off leash command and controlled aggression. Their hands-on approach ensures both handlers and dogs are well-prepared.
Stan "Stano" Thankachen
Stan Thankachen, boasts over 40 years of experience in the security and personal protection industry. His career includes training for commercial property protection and personal protection.

Stan's journey into dog training began with his first Doberman, "Psycho Zeus," in 1994, driven by the desire to protect his family. Stan has worked with a variety of breeds including the Belgain Malinois, Cane Corso and Doberman Pinscher. Over the past 40 years, he has become an expert in protection dog training, blending his extensive experience with his unique philosophy. Notably, several of their Belgian Malinois have been featured in A-list shows, including "Fargo."
Tammy Thankachen
Tammy Thankachen is the Chief Instructor at Oku Damashi Martial Arts Dojo in Langdon, Alberta, which she co-owns with her husband, Stan. With a deep-rooted passion for martial arts and dog training, Tammy plays a vital role in their family-run business, Ultimate K-9 Bodyguards.

While Stan focuses on the protection and security aspects, Tammy brings her expertise in martial arts instruction to the dojo, ensuring clients receive comprehensive training. Together, they provide top-notch family-based protection through their well-trained dogs and martial arts education, creating a secure and empowering environment for their clients.
